PRP Hair Treatment
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a biostimulation treatment that uses an isolated portion of your own blood to rejuvenate the skin. By re-injecting the high concentrations of growth factor rich platelets, it stimulates the dermis to increase collagen and elastin levels.
What areas can be treated with PRP?
Commonly treated areas include around the eyes, the jaw line, cheeks forehead, nasolabial lines, marionette lines, neck ,
parts of the body like hands and the scalp for hair restoration.
How does PRP work?
When the PRP is re-injected into the skin, growth factors are released by the platelets. This promotes healing and stimulates collagen production. Collagen, found naturally in the body, is the foundation of a youthful appearance. During the aging process less collagen is produced resulting in decreased volume, lines and wrinkles. Through stimulating collagen production, PRP helps to promote even skin tone, reduced scarring, improved skin texture resulting in healthy, resilient, hydrated skin. The response of the skin to the injected PRP stimulates dermal fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin and can help repair and improve function of other cell types, such as melanocytes – often improving areas of stubborn hyperpigmentation. It uses the body’s own regenerative growth factors and no artificial chemicals or toxins are used
What are the benefits?
PRP treatment has a natural regenerative effect by thickening the dermis. It is particularly effective for treating the thin under-eye area, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face and neck, and giving an overall rejuvenated appearance. It may also help in treating stubborn hyperpigmentation in most cases.
What is the downtime?
There is very little downtime with PRP though some redness post treatment may occur. We recommend avoiding washing your face until the following day to allow the plasma to seep into the injection points and be fully absorbed by the skin.
Can i have prp with other injectables in the same appointment?
Yes – we frequently do treatments where PRP is combined with other injectables, such as Botox or Dermal fillers.
The process
During the consultation we will discuss your specific concerns and expectations and explain to you any risks that come with the treatment. We will then take a small sample of your blood from your arm. This will be spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the whole blood cells, creating your own Platelet Rich Plasma. Your own platelet rich plasma is re-injected using a very fine, sterile needle. Multiple injections are required to give an over-all improvement to the area of concern.
How long does it take?
Quick and simple process taking no longer than 30 minutes.
How often do I need PRP treatment to achieve optimal results?
Several studies suggest initially once a month over 3 months and then maintenance one treatment every 3 months thereafter.
