What is Lip Augmentation?
Lip fillers are injections of hyaluronic acid placed into the lips. The lips are composed of layers. From the orbicularis oris muscle to the vermilion border (white roll). Injections of filler are strategically placed into these layers to produce the desired results.
How long does it last?
Like all dermal filler procedures, filler lasts dramatically longer with repeated treatments. In the lips, results can last up to 6-9 months after 1st treatment. With the 2nd treatment the results can last up to 18 months. Of course this is not an exact science and filler is metabolised different between individuals.
Does it hurt?
To our knowledge we are one of the few clinics in the UK providing dental block for total anaesthesia. Its the gold standard pain relief for lip augmentation. Our clients do not feel a thing during the lip augmentation process. After a few injections of local anaesthetic into the gum your lips will go completely numb. It will numb the lips from inside out, numbing all layers of the lips. Numbing cream only numbs the superficial layer of the lip. Filler is placed in the deeper layers, hence why with numbing cream you still feel the pain. With local anaesthetic, the numbing sensation will last 1 hour. Also dental block contains adrenaline which completely minimises the risk of bruising during the lip augmentation.
What type of filler do you use?
We stock most types of dermal filler brands ranging from Perfectha to Juvederm. We only use hyaluronic acid filler, as this is safe and if needed, completely reversible. Hyaluronic acid is non- permanent filler. Permanent filler caries the risk of infection, rejection and long term scarring. We do not use permanent filler. Hyaluronic acid is naturally occurring and the this filler will integrate with your biology to provide you with a natural enhancement. Lips are highly unique and therefore we tailor what product we will use on you on at your consultation. Some clients require thin filler for just definition, others would like thicker filler for greater volume and plumpness. Clients become fixated on what brand of filler we use etc. However trust us when we say, over 90% of the cosmetic result depends on the skill and artistic flare of the medical professional holding the filler in their hand rather than the brand of filler being used.
Needle Or Cannula?
For lips we use both. The determination of the technique will be decided at your consultation / treatment day.
Combination Treatment
Lip augmentation are often incorporated with chin filler to completely balance the profile. We can perform this at the same time.
